During this introductory woodworking class, each student will produce a custom keepsake box with a lid, measuring roughly 9"L x 6"W x 4"H. Each project produced will be unique to each student.  Basic machining, construction, wood joinery, and wood finishing techniques will all be taught as a part of this class. Students will have the ability to choose the wood species/grain of their boxes from a wide selection. Students will learn to cut, assemble, and glue a mitered box with splines on each corner. After glued components have cured, students will be taught how to construct the lid of the box. In the final session, students will learn how to “finish the finish” and go home with their beautiful box to cherish for years to come.
